Pangasinan is all set for Agew na Pangasinan Celebration

LINGAYEN—The provincial government is all set for the commemoration of the 434th founding anniversary of the Agew na Pangasinan slated on April 5.

Malu Elduayan, Tourism Operations Division chief has announced that the various activities for the two-day holding of the event are now in place during a consultative meeting with Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. and the province’s local chief executives at the Capitol Resort Hotel last March 10.

Elduayan disclosed that this year’s celebration of the Agew na Pangasinan will kick off on April 4 with the staging of “Kalutan ed Dalan” to start at 2:00pm that will showcase Bayambang’s bid to capture Turkey’s record in the Guinness World Record for largest barbecue.

Bayambang is fielding an 8-kilometer stretch of grilled freshwater fish to break Turkey’s 6-km record.

As this developed, Gov. Espino urged all local chief executives to support the endeavor as he noted that the undertaking is an effort of the whole province of Pangasinan where the provincial government co-sponsors the project.

Gov. Espino said the provincial government will donate some 200,000 pieces of fish like tilapia, hito or dalag to be grilled during the “kalutan.”

On April 5, a thanksgiving mass will start the founding anniversary celebration at 7:00am to thank the Lord for the graces received by Pangasinan to be followed by the commemorative program to be held at the Capitol Plaza at 9:00am.

Highlighting the commemorative program is the awarding of the Kurit Panlunggaring Literary Contest winners and the giving of various LGU awards.

All roads will lead to the main thoroughfares of Lingayen where a parade of artistically adorned floats from the LGUs and private entities will fill the roads through the “Parada na Dayew” at 4:00 pm from the Capitol Plaza to the main thoroughfares up to the beachfront.

Likewise, street dancers will also wow the audience with their unique dance steps and execution during the parade with the sound of drum and bugle corps of leading universities.

The activity will be culminated by the convergence of all the floats and street dancers at the Capitol Beachfront and Baywalk.

At 7:00pm the Province of Pangasinan will give honor to outstanding Pangasinenses whose selfless dedication to their profession has brought outstanding contributions to the welfare of the people of Pangasinan and other countries through the ASNA Awards Night and Ball at the Sison Auditorium.

Local talents will wrap up the event with a variety show of Pangasinan music and talents at 9:00 p.m. thru the “Paliket ed Aplaya”, at the sprawling Capitol Beachfront.
