      This coming sunday, June 19 is the sesquicentennial or 150th birth anniversary of the country’s national hero, Dr. José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda. He was born in 1861 in Calamba, Laguna.

     In celebration of Rizal's Sesquicentennial Birth Anniversary, the City Government of Calamba is erecting a 22 ft (6.7 m). bronze statue (the world's tallest Rizal statue) in front of the 6.7 hectare Calamba City Hall complex. It will be unveiled on June 19 which is Rizal's 150th birthday. His Excellency Benigno Aquino III will unveil the monument.

A Cruise on Loboc River

      
       Loboc River is one of the major tourist destinations of Bohol. The winding river plays host to cruises on board of small bancas or floating restaurants. Visitors are treated to a vista of lush tropical vegetation such as nipa palms, coconut trees, banana groves, and bushes.
